Get to Know the Real India & Himalayas

Rishikesh, India is situated in a beautiful mountain valley at the foothills of the Himalayan Mountain Range. Flowing directly through it is the mighty Ganga River, the holiest river on Earth according to Hindu tradition and a place where one's sins are washed away by bathing in her or meditating on her sandy shores. Rishikesh has been a center of spiritual pilgrimage in India for thousands of years and it's history can be felt and seen everywhere you look. This beautiful place is also where Lord Ram and his brother Lakshman came to meditate. study and do penance after vanquishing the demon-king Ravana in the events of the Ramayana. Therefore this land is a dream of many around the world to visit for this very reason.

Awaken to the Power of Meditation & Presence

The Great Indian Sage Ramana Maharshi once said, "The experience is here and now. One cannot deny one’s own Self." This is why our meditations will be focused on delving deep into the self, beyond the identity, beyond the mind, and fully immersing ourselves in the present moment through atma-vichara (self-inquiry), sound baths, meditations and yoga to help us tap into the present like never before.

Dive Deep with Vishuddha into Non-Dual Philosophy

The educational theme of the Bliss of India Retreat will be learning to understand and awaken our own blissful nature hidden within (known as satchitananda in Sanskrit). This will be done through a number of lectures on Non-duality, also referred to as Advaita Vedanta. By understanding our mind's framework, through which we view the world, we can also learn to live beyond these limited ideas of 'myself' that we are often consumed by each day. In doing this we will learn to uncover our true infinite, blissful, unending nature, and allow it to guide us towards a better life, on all levels... We will undertake this new step forward through a series of lectures by Vishuddha Das, as well as interactive practice, and group Q&A sessions in order to answer any and all questions one might have.

OUR ADVENTURES:

India is truly a country like no other and this will be visible from the moment you arrive. Immersed in a deep history of ancient practices, deity worship and vibrant colors around every corner. In order to truly get a feel for the 'real India' we must venture out and dive into the culture and places outside of just our private retreat center. This is why for 3 days of our 7 day retreat, we will embark on exciting excursions exploring multiple beautiful and historic sights in and around Rishikesh. All led by Vishuddha and Breanna as we help answer any questions you may have on the surrounding area, it's history and more.

1. Maharishi Mahesh Ashram (The Beatles Ashram)

Our first excursion will be an explorative adventure to the world famous 'Beatles Ashram' where the band lived and studied yoga while writing one of their albums. This magical Ashram lays within Rajaji National Park and includes over 50 abandoned buildings, meditation chambers, and stunning views of the surrounding forest and the city of Rishikesh. Students will be free to explore as much of this magical location as they choose, ending our session with a meditation in it's world famous yoga hall.

2. Vaisistha Cave Ashram & Ganga Dip

Our second adventure will be an extended trip to the historic  Vaisistha Cave ashram and temple on the banks of the Ganga River, where Sage Vaisistha (the guru of Lord Rama) lived and meditated centuries ago along with his wife. Along with this we will take our first plunge into the holy Ganga as the sun rises.

3. Ram Jhula and Ganga Aarti at the Parmarth Niketan Ashram

Our third trip will be the most grounded and immersive as we walk together to explore the shops, stalls, and local sights surrounding the Ram Jhula bridge and relax at the Ganga beach before continuing to explore the far side of the river as we make our way to the Parmarth Niketan Ashram to experience a world famous evening prayer ritual known in Hinduism as 'Ganga Aarti'; a 45 minute ceremony that includes a fire purification ritual, chanting and more. This sacred ritual has been practiced each day for thousands of years and is truly a sight to behold!

YOUR ACCOMMODATION:

Your stay will be located in a beautiful & modern retreat center just a few hundred yards above the main center of Tapovan, Rishikesh. The retreat center provides wifi, air conditioning, heating, a flatscreen tv and three delicious traditional vegetarian meals per day, cooked in house by our wonderful staff and team.

Each private room has ample space and is single occupancy, meaning you will have your own private room. These rooms include a bed, night stand, charging ports for your electronics, a shower and a toilet, as well heat, AC, and a flatscreen tv. As well, each dorm is separated between male/female and comes with ample lighting, a privacy screen and charging ports as well as AC.

Along with this, our retreat center has an indoor workshop and meditation hall which we will be using for workshops, meditation, yoga and lectures, and will be available for all students to use for their own meditation or yoga practice, and to study/converse with each other in between classes.

DAILY MEALS & FOOD

The food we eat plays a major role in keeping us not only healthy on a physical level, but emotionally and mentally energized as well. All meals will be vegetarian and are freshly prepared and served in the comfort of our retreat facility.

GETTING TO INDIA

Arrival to our retreat center has two major options;

Option One is to arrive at Dehradun Airport, known as Jolly Grant Airport (DED) which is 30 minutes outside of Rishikesh, India. This often requires an initial flight transfer at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi, India and is the one we personally use. *Upon your arrival to Dehradun Airport we will be arranging transportation to pick you up and bring you directly to the retreat center.*

Option Two is for those looking to explore Delhi on their own before the retreat begins. If this decision is made you are free to book a taxi or train from Delhi to Rishikesh which will cost about $20/50 and take roughly 4 hours. This option is a very fun experience in our opinion, we only ask that if you decide to do this you inform us. Delhi is a wonderful and diverse city that is worth exploring for those willing to do so!

As stated earlier we will be providing a Guide to India PDF with additional information, (including how to acquire your e-visa which is mandatory when entering India) to help make your journey as easy and enjoyable as possible!
